And introducing another member of Hollywood’s ‘Big Five’ - Paramount Pictures! Like its compatriots, Paramount has also produced and distributed a range of iconic films ranging from Transformers (meh), Sonic the Hedgehog (pretty decent) - and… the first six Marvel Cinematic films… weird right? I can imagine Paramount isn’t too pleased with the cash cow that they lost after Marvel formed its own movie studio. Founded in 1912 by William Wadsworth Hodkinson (say that 10x faster) , Adolph Zukor and Jesse L. Lasky, it, alongside Universal, is one of the oldest film studios standing today.
The Avengers, a franchise within another franchise; the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Based on the comic book of the same name the Avengers is the MCU’s most profitable franchise as globally, the Avengers franchise has earned $7.768 billion at the box office and not only that, redefined the superhero and film landscape as a whole with every major film studio and their mother desperately trying to recreate that success with their own cinematic universes.
Warner Bros. or Warner Bros. Entertainment is a film production and distribution company and a prominent member of the ‘Big Five’ major American film studios. Founded in 1923 by the, yep you guessed it, Warner brothers; Harry, Albert, Sam and Jack L. Warner and the studio, alongside its other ‘Big Five’ member Disney has produced and distrobuted iconic media. Media such as Looney Tunes, the Harry Potter franchise, the Lord of the Rings franchise, Superman films, Batman films and much, much more.
The Mandalorian, arguably one of the most talked about streaming shows currently which spawned one of the most beloved pop-culture characters, Baby Yoda, or, SPOILERS - Grogu. The Mandalorian is a streaming series set within the vast Star Wars universe and one of Disney+’s premiere titles/series, created by both Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni (who is practically Star Wars’ second coming).
Disney, Disney, Disney - not a soul in the world doesn’t know what Disney is… but I’ll still tell you anyway (Otherwise, what am I here for?). The (Yes, ‘The’, so fancy) Walt Disney Studios, founded in 1923, is an American (Surprise, surprise) film and entertainment studio and a segment of the Walt Disney Company. Like Universal, it is part of the ‘Big Five’ major film studios - (FUN FACT: I’m pretty sure Disney owns all of your favourite film franchises now).
Owned by Comcast and founded in 1912 by Carl Laemmle, Universal Studios is a film production company that has (probably) produced some of your all-time favourites. As a part of the “Big Five” Universal is one of the most successful film studios out there.
